Clarke boys stay undefeated

The Clarke boys tennis team stayed undefeated with victories over Ballard and Centerville, while the girls team suffered a loss to Ballard before bouncing back with a win against Centerville.

The Indians made quick work of both Ballard and Centerville, winning by 9-0 sweeps in both matches.

Colin Morris won 8-3 over Joe Kruger at No. 1 singles against Ballard on April 15, while Jared Jamison won 8-5 at No. 2 singles over Nathan Carlin.

Yahia Aly picked up an 8-3 win at No. 3 singles over Bryce Hull and Jacob Redman won 8-2 over Devin Wargo at No. 4 singles.

Ali Aly was an 8-1 winner over Anthony Lettow at No. 5 singles and Holden Hewitt won 8-3 over Jacob Herrin at No. 6 singles.

Morris and Jamison picked up an 8-2 win at No. 1 doubles, followed by an 8-3 win by the No. 2 doubles team of Yahia Aly and Redman. Ali Aly and Hewitt won 8-5 at No. 3 doubles.

Against Centerville, Morris won 8-3 over Devon Glosser at No. 1 singles and Jamison rolled 8-2 over Michael Starcevich at No. 2 singles.

Yahia Aly picked up an 8-3 win over Stevie Cochran at No. 3 singles, followed by an 8-4 win by Redman at No. 4 singles.

Ali Aly shut out Brady Sweet 8-0 at No. 5 singles and Hewitt won 8-5 at No. 6 singles over Spencer Varner.

Morris and Jamison won a close 8-6 match at No. 1 doubles, while Yahia Aly and Redman won 8-2 and Ali Aly and Hewitt won 8-1 in their doubles matches.

The Clarke boys tennis team returns to action Tuesday at home against Southwest Valley.

Girls

The Lady Indians suffered their first loss of the season on April 15 against Ballard.

Libby Bemis and Cassidy Bierbrodt picked up the only singles victories of the day for the Lady Indians at No. 1 and No. 3 singles, respectively.

Bemis teamed with Tracy Morgan to earn a 10-2 win at No. 1 doubles for the only doubles victory for Clarke in an 8-3 loss.

Clarke bounced back on April 17 with a 7-2 win over Centerville.

Bemis, Morgan, Bierbrodt and Macey Snell all earned singles victories for the Lady Indians in the win over Centerville.

Clarke swept the doubles matches, including an 8-0 win by Morgan and Bierbrodt at No. 1 doubles.

The Clarke girls return to action Friday at the Knoxville Tournament.
