A former Osceola city councilman is backing a new candidate to fill his spot on the Osceola City Council.
Glenn Schaff, who held the council’s at-large seat for 14 years, is supporting Dennis Page’s candidacy in the upcoming city council special election.
“I trust him and I want to see him get in there,” Schaff said during a phone interview with the Osceola Sentinel-Tribune. “I had a long talk with Dennis. I think he’s a good man.”
Schaff had won re-election for the at-large council seat in the November 2013 election. However, in early May, he resigned from his seat citing various reasons.
The city council scheduled a special election for Tuesday, Aug. 5, to fill the at-large seat.
There are four candidates running in the election:
• Page
• Sarah Truitt
• Brian McKnight
• Douglas Gay
Once elected, the new at-large council member would hold the seat through the remainder of Schaff’s term, which is through December 2017.
