Osceola to have Healthy Iowans meeting

The Southern Iowa Council of Governments (SICOG) is partnering with the Healthy Clarke County Coalition, members of the Osceola community, Clarke County Public Health and the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) to identify and implement strategies to make the Osceola community a healthier place to live. Up to $10,000 is available from IDPH to implement wellness strategies identified through this asset-based approach to community development.

SICOG will facilitate a community planning and asset mapping session from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 11, at The Loft on Clay, located at 1400 W. Clay St.

Anyone with an interest in creating a healthier Osceola is invited to attend and participate. Those in attendance will help guide Osceola through an action planning process to identify nutrition and physical activity strategies and determine how they desire the IDPH grant funds to be spent.

The long-term goal of the IDPH project is to create regional nutrition and physical activity networks throughout the state.
