American State Bank announces adult financial wellness program

American State Bank kicked off their enhanced financial literacy education opportunity for adults this week.

In an initiative to bring financial literacy education to adults in communities the bank serves, American State Bank provides access via their website to the American State Bank Financial Wellness Program.

The ASB Financial Wellness Program learning course offers free on-line programming aimed at a variety of relevant financial topics including financial decision making regarding mortgages, savings and investments, overdrafts, payment types and credit cards, credit scores and reports, identify protection, insurance and taxes and financing higher education.

The program launches with an introductory offer for those considering buying or refinancing their home. To receive $100 credit on closing costs, applicants merely need take the mortgage learning module and keep their completion certificate and redeem for the $100 off their closing costs with a mortgage at American State Bank.

Clarke Community High School teacher Aaron O’tool, purchased his first home recently and took the mortgage module of the program and received the $100 closing cost credit.

O’tool said, “ASB introduced the opportunity for me to learn more about owning my home, what affects my mortgage, and the financing process involved. It was an easy online process that took about 20 minutes. I was more informed and more prepared as I went through the home ownership process.”
