To Osceola businesses — it’s cake bake time

Once again it is time for the annual Scout “Feller’s Cake Bake.” This year, it will be held 6 p.m. Monday, March 9, in the Clarke elementary cafeteria.

For those of you who may not be familiar with the “Feller’s Cake Bake,” it is an auction where Cub Scouts from first through fifth grade and Boy Scouts bake and decorate a cake with a male family member.

The only stipulation that the boys have is the whole creation must be edible. The cake is then sold to businesses/individuals in our community, just like a regular auction. The highest bidder in turn purchases the cake and takes it with them to enjoy.

The uniqueness of this whole event is that all cakes are donated by the Scouts and all proceeds go to the Osceola pack or troop. These funds will help provide the boys with awards and advancements, annual fees, books and materials, local summer activities, and most importantly, letting these boys have an opportunity to attend summer camp.

This is a great way for you, as a business person or individual, to support the local scouting organization and show the young men of Osceola the effort they are making toward becoming concerned citizens are appreciated by the community.

You may enter the south side of Clarke elementary to view the cakes at 5:45 p.m. and the auction will begin at 6 p.m.

As a special thank you to those who are participating this year, an advertisement will be taken out in the Osceola Sentinel-Tribune thanking the individuals and businesses that supported the Scouts in this fundraiser.

All those who contribute either by purchase of a cake or donations will be included in this ad unless they request otherwise.

If you are unable to attend the auction but would like to contribute, you may contact Calli Shields at 712-304-2886, or contributions can be made to Pack 101 for the Cub Scouts or Troop 101 for the Boy Scouts and mailed to 1191 330th Ave., Woodburn, IA 50275.

If you have any questions about the auction, please feel free to call. Thank you for supporting the Osceola Scout program.
