Busick named 2015 National American Miss Iowa

MURRAY — Sydney Busick, the daughter of Shane and Polly Busick, has the prestigious title of the 2015 National American Miss Iowa at the state pageant held May 3. She is a student at Murray Community School District.

She will be attending the national pageant to be held in Anaheim, Calif., at Disneyland during Thanksgiving week, representing the state of Iowa, where she will have the opportunity to win her share of more than $500,000 in cash and prizes.

The National American Miss pageants are dedicated to celebrating America’s greatness and encouraging its future leaders. Each year, the National American Miss pageants awards 1.5 million dollars in cash, scholarships and prizes to recognize and assist the development of young women nationwide.

National American Miss has added the ultimate door prize to nationals 2015. Each girl that qualifies for the national pageant has a chance to win a new 2015 Ford mustang convertible. For more details visit www.namiss.com/car.

National American Miss is dedicated to developing the success of young women across the nation with a program that is designed to be age-appropriate and family-oriented. Pageants are held in each state for girls ages four to 18 in five different age divisions.

The National American Miss pageants are for “Today’s Girl” and “Tomorrow’s Leaders.” The pageant program is based on inner beauty, as well as poise, presentation and offers an “All American Spirit” of fun for family and friends.

Emphasis is placed on the importance of gaining self-confidence, learning new skills, learning good attitudes about competition and setting and achieving personal goals. The pageant seeks to recognize the accomplishments of each girl while encouraging her to set goals for the future.

Busick’s activities include tumbling, trampoline team, modeling in Kansas City, T-ball in Murray and helping on the farm.

She placed in the 2014 NAM pageant princess division as third runner-up overall, as well as “Most Photogenic,” and “Most Promising Model.”

This year, she was crowned 2015 Miss Iowa Jr Preteen. There were 88 girls competing in her age group.

They compete in four categories: public speaking, which requires them to do a personal introduction on stage, interview, which is one on one interviews with six individual judges, community service and donation of school supplies,

Busick has chosen to donate to United Methodist Church of Osceola and Blank Children’s Hospital. For formal wear, to show poise and confidence, she was escorted by her father Shane.

Her sponsors for the pageant were family and friends, and she will be looking for more sponsors for the national pageant in November.
