Rodney Dowden-Parrott Earlham

Rodney Dowden-Parrott, 51, of Earlham died May 26, 2015, at Greater Regional Hospice Home in Creston.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, Creston, is assisting with arrangements. Memorials may be given to H.C.I. Hospice or American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be left at www.powersfh.com.

Rodney Wayne Dowden-Parrott, son of Cheryl Lynn Dowden-Parrott and Dean LeRoy Dowden-Parrott, was born Dec. 9, 1963, in Iowa City.

Rodney graduated from East Union High School in 1983.

After high school, Rodney continued his education at Southwestern Community College and later at Des Moines Area Community College.

After school, he began his career in sales, as a route salesman in the Des Moines area for the next several years.

Rodney later moved to Claremore, Okla., to be near family and worked for Hope Lumber doing delivery work prior to his return to Booneville, Iowa, and returned to his route sales position. Rod continued to work in sales even after his most recent move to Earlham and was working for Fireplace Stone and Patio in Waukee prior to his illness.

Rodney is survived by his parents, Dean and Cheryl Dowden-Parrott of Claremore, Okla.; son Matthew Dean Dowden-Parrott of West Des Moines; brothers, Randy Lee Dowden-Parrott (wife Stacie Breckley) of Roanoke, Texas, and Bryan LeRoy Dowden-Parrott (wife Darcey Parrott) of Claremore, Okla.; nieces, Hallie Dowden-Parrott, Sophia Dowden-Parrott and Liliana Parrott; and many aunts, uncles and other family members.
