South Central Conference to sponsor board member workshop

The South Central Conference is once again sponsoring a board member workshop for people contemplating about running for the board this upcoming September election.

The purpose of the meeting is to politely inform people who intend on, or are thinking about, running for the board, to receive information so they leave with a good understanding of the commitment and the mission of a good board member.

The meeting will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 17, at Honey Creek Resort at Lake Rathbun. The agenda will consist of supper and guest speakers Harry Heiligenthal from IASB and Tom Rubel, current IHCC dean of economic development and former Glenwood and Ottumwa superintendent.

There will also be time for current board members to provide testimonials about their service on the board and what their greatest satisfaction has been about serving on the board.

Registration costs is $35 per person. This covers the cost of the meal including gratuity, a stipend for Rubel and transportation costs for IASB officials.  Districts will only be charged by the number of people that are attending from their respective school districts.

RSVP by Friday, June 12, to Steve Seid, superintendent at Clarke Community Schools; 641-342-4969.
