Presidential hopeful Dr. Carson fills Lamoni Community Center

LAMONI — On June 26 from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., Dr. Ben Carson, a retired pediatric neurosurgeon for John Hopkins Children’s Center and a Republican presidential hopeful, met with about 150 people at the Lamoni Community Center.

He spoke about the state of the nation, then answered several questions on subjects that included immigration, foreign policy, the U.S. Constitution’s 2nd Amendment (right to bear arms), and the need to end the divisive policies of the current administration and to unify Americans.

Before and after the gathering, Dr. Carson spent a significant amount of time meeting, greeting and being photographed with local citizens.

The We The People Tea Party of Southern Iowa hosted the gathering.

Tea Party Chairman Len Edwards told the standing room only crowd that the tea party has historically sought and will continue to seek to provide forums for local people to meet and greet candidates for local, state and federal elected offices.
