Clarke 0-3 at Clarke Invite

AFTON — Clarke went 0-3 for the day here Saturday at the Clarke Invite, held at East Union because of construction in the Clarke High School cafeteria.

The Lady Indians lost to East Union 21-17, 21-4; fell to Martensdale-St. Marys 21-8, 21-15 and lost to Mount Pleasant 21-11, 21-10.

“Throughout the day, our passing was excellent,” Clarke head coach Christa Subbert said. “Serve receive was also very consistent and accurate. We had quite a few serving errors and not many ace serves. We struggled with hitting and timing our hits, which will get better with practice.”

Maddi Heath led the team with 17 digs for the day. Lexy Carson and Ally Deutsch each set seven assists. Baylie Balcaen recorded a team-high five kills for the day and Alex Boyce finished with four.

“We definitely learned a lot on the day,” Subbert said. “We saw some great things from the girls, but also saw many areas that need much improvement. We are looking forward to our two games this week.”

Clarke travels to Centerville today, before returning home Tuesday against Davis County.
