Motorcyclist killed in weekend crash

An investigation is ongoing after an accident 3:45 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at 1030 S. Main St.

According to Iowa State Patrol reports, Porter Sproll, 82, of Osceola, driving a 1997 Ford, was headed south on Highway 69 and made a U-turn at the Clarke County Historical Museum when he was struck by Jon Jay Jackson, 59, of Osceola, driving a 2006 Kawasaki. Jackson attempted to avoid the crash by laying his motorcycle on its side.

Sprolls, who was not wearing his seatbelt, was transported to Methodist Hospital by air ambulance.

Jackson was killed in the crash. His funeral services have been set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 13, at Kale Funeral Home with interment at Hebron Cemetery in Clarke County. Visitation with the family was held 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Memorials may be directed to his family for a fitting tribute at a later date.
