Interstate 35 takes two victories
PLEASANTVILLE – Interstate 35 finished the day 2-0, taking home wins over Pleasantville and Wayne Thursday.
I-35 knocked off Pleasantville at home with a 42-39 victory.
The Roadrunners started hot, recording three consecutive pins. Reuben Smith (120), Tryston Palmer (126) and Chase Baker (132) recorded pins at 2:27, 0:14 and 2:50, respectively.
Pleasantville responded with four consecutive wins of its own before Curtis Jacobe (170) finished Isaac Mann with a fall at 3:16.
At 195, Brock Thompson took a victory from injury time. Ryley Snell (285) and Ryan Steinlage ended the dual with pins at 0:32 and 2:19, respectively.
The Roadrunners ran through Wayne, fishing with a 54-30 victory.
I-35 took three wins from forfeit at 120, 170 and 195. Ryan Steinlage (113) scored a pin in the first match of the dual at 1:01. Nick Steinlage (138) also took a pin at 2:34 after back-to-back Wayne wins.
Chase Darst picked up a pin (1:51) at 160 for the Roadrunners. Nick Hauge (220) and Snell finished the match wins for I-35 with first period pins at 0:25 and 0:32.
Clarke goes 1-2 at Chariton
CHARITON – Clarke finished Thursday 1-2 after rallying to take a win over host, Chariton.
Clarke took down Chariton 33-22 with a flurry of success for Indian wrestlers.
Clarke picked up two forfeit wins at 120 and 126 as both teams gave up points with four double forfeits.
Kacey Boyers (132) took a match win for the Indians with a pin at 0:46. Kenneth Fry followed with the next competed match at 152, finishing with a pin (1:37).
Tyler Binning (195) and and Jake Smith ended the match wins for Clarke with a pin at 0:29 and 4-3 decision win.
Clarke fell to Albia 60-18 with forfeits destroying the Indians' chances.
Clarke gave up 36 points to forfeits while taking 12 points of its own to forfeit.
The Indians pulled out one match win as Jake Smith pinned Kaleb Sample at 2:41 to take six points for the Indians late in the match. Binning and Will Smith (285) scored forfeit wins for Clarke.
Southeast Warren/Melcher-Dallas took down Clarke 60-24 with forfeits continuing to hurt the Indians.
Clarke allowed 6 forfeits for the second time Thursday. The Indians recorded three forfeit victories at 126, 220 and 285.
Binning recorded the only competed match victory for Clarke with a pin over Logan Montgomery at 0:45.
Central Decatur takes two wins
COLFAX – Central Decatur picked up two wins at its quad meet Tuesday, Jan. 14.
The Cardinals routed Baxter 58-6 with only four competed matches in the process.
Central Decatur picked up pins at 120 and 195. William Gillis (120) grabbed a pin at the last second of the third period, 5:59, to score six points for the Cardinals. Tegan Carson (195) pinned Jackson Bottorff at 0:58 in the first period for a swift win.
David Walker (152) took a 15-2 majority decision victory over Brad Mathews for the final competed win. The Cardinals took seven forfeit wins and had two double forfeits at 106 ad 285.
Central Decatur took down Collins-Maxwell 54-18 with forfeits contributing 42 points.
The Cardinals split the four competed matches with Baxter.
Devin Adams (126) recorded a fall at 1:32 and David Walker (152) pinned Kayden McKinney at 4:17 for the only two competed match wins for the Cardinals.
Colfax-Mingo took down Central Decatur 45-32 with the most competed matches of the night.
Carson scored a 17-1 technical fall at 3:44 to put the Cardinals up after a forfeit win at 182. It wasn't until 120 when Central Decatur scored its next victory.
Gillis recorded a pin at 3:32 and Adams recorded a pin of his own (time unavailable) to put the Cardinals back on track. Colton Barnes (145) was the final Cardinal to record a pin, finishing Tevin Wamsher at 1:19.
David Walker was the final Cardinals with a win, recording a 17-10 decision victory over Hunter Stevens.
