Area football roundup: Murray claims big win, CD and Clarke suffer losses

Murray 72, Melcher-Dallas 30

MELCHER – Murray rolled to a win over Melcher-Dallas Friday night, winning 72-30 to improve to 1-1.

An eight point game at 32-24 during halftime, Murray outscored Melcher-Dallas 40-6 in the second half, turning on the running clock to run away with the win.

Sophomore Zack Belden had a career night, tallying six all-purpose touchdowns – three each through the air and ground. He had a total 273 yards on offense.

Jarred Frederick also had a touchdown, running for a 21-yard score for his only score. Mark Cabrera, Chance Lecy and Colton Siefkas had receiving touchdowns.

Wyatt Gannon tallied 12 total tackles, 10 being solo. Jace Rodecker had a sack, the only one for Murray.

Aydan Dinham and Siefkas each had interceptions for turnovers and Gauge Mongar and Brycen Wookey had fumble recoveries.

ACGC 43, Central Decatur 7

LEON – ACGC rolled over Central Decatur in a 43-7 final Friday night.

CD didn’t score until the fourth quarter, with the game well out of reach, on a Chase Walker rushing score.

Walker finished with two attempts, one yard and one score. The Cardinals in total had 161 yards gained.

Quarterback Matt Boothe threw one interception, passing for 113 yards.

The Cardinals had no sacks, with Boothe, Devin Adams and Jack Scrivner leading the team in tackles with five stops each. TJ Fallis and Tegan Carson each had tackles for a loss.

Interstate 35 37, Clarke 0

TRURO – Clarke lost to Interstate 35 Friday night 35-0, falling to 2-0 on the season.

I-35’s Nick Steinlage had two rushing touchdowns. Logan Cassidy ran for 125 yards and Cade Ward caught five passes for 103 yards and one score.

The Indians have been outscored 91-0 in two weeks this season.
