Mildred “Darlene” Carrico, daughter of Harry Fay Clark and Ethel Marie (Spidle) Clark, was born Aug. 4, 1922, in Decatur County and passed from this life Dec. 17, 2009, at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, at 87 years of age.
Darlene grew up near Leon, where she attended Reynolds Country School and Leon High School. She united in marriage with Max Layton Baker, and two sons were born to this union. Max preceded her in death in 1973.
On Nov. 14, 1999, Darlene and Dean Carrico united in marriage at New Virginia. The couple made their home in Osceola where they lived for 10 years preceding her death.
Darlene had also lived in Des Moines and Ankeny. She worked at Des Moines General Hospital as a Ward Clerk and also had worked as a bookkeeper. She was active in golf, bridge, enjoyed social outings with friends and enjoyed looking at old pictures.
Funeral services were held at Kale Funeral Home, Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Marty Burgus, officiating.
Interment will follow in the Leon Cemetery.
