Fred W. Poil, son Carl O. Poil and Edna McVey Poil born on April 24,1938 in Osceola, IA. Passed on February 5, 2015 at home in Red Oak, TX, after a short illness with cancer. (76 of age)
Fred received education in the Clarke Community School. He played football and many other sports, while working a part time job.
Fred married his high school sweetheart, Donna M. Woodard on November 30, 1957 at the Christian Church in Osceola, Iowa. (57 years of marriage)
Fred served in U.S. Army from 1957 to 1960, in Furth Germany, SGT (E-5). Training in Germany demolition of mines and booby traps, 4th Armored Division Officer and NCO-CBR Instructor School and Radica Instrument Repair Course. Then he spent 1 year in Reserves. In 1961-1962 he was recalled to train soldiers for the Berlin Crisis and he was honorably discharged in 1963.
Fred worked in Des Moines, Iowa in construction until he started his own business importing and designing sporting goods and sold them throughout the U.S., at that time he moved to Texas where it was warmer, he lived and worked until his death.
Fred’s favorite pastime after retiring was with computer, drawing vintage cars using water color, he was very passionate about his design of electric car that didn’t use gas and he’ll make sure everyone will have one in Heaven. Fred enjoyed helping everyone by extending his hand.
Fred will live eternally in the hearts of loved ones. He leaves behind to mourn, his wife, Donna; three sisters, Lucille C White of Red Oak, TX, Carolyn J. Shamblen and husband Roy of San Antonio, TX, Mary E. Burdess of Osceola, Iowa and brother George D. Poil and wife Zenaida of Tulsa, OK; and many other relatives and close friends.
Relatives who preceded Fred in death, are his parents Carl and Edna Poil, baby sister Vilma D Poil, Brother Carl R. Poil, Jr and Sister JoAnne Clara Poil, grandparents, brother-in-law Marvin F. Burdess and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Fred will be missed greatly by all.
A memorial will be held at the Church of Christ, 430 Third Street, Murray Iowa on June 20, 2015 at 11:00. Fred will be buried with Military Honors at Murray Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to the family to be given at a later date. Luncheon following services.
