Dale David Phillips was born on December 17, 1924 at Murray, IA to Roy Benjamin and Mabel (Carder) Phillips. He graduated from Murray High School with the class of 1943. Following graduation he served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He united in marriage to Marlene Lou Jessen on June 3, 1956 at Christ Lutheran Church in Bouton. Dale worked as a Federal Meat Inspector from 1965 to 1987 in Iowa, Puerto Rico, Florida and Tennessee.
Dale was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church serving in many church leadership offices. He was an active volunteer at the Perry Lutheran Home for 25 years, the Woodward American Legion Post #211, and at ball games in the concession stand at Bouton. He enjoyed helping people and for many years cleaned the road sides in the area. He loved attending grandchildren’s activities and was a regular participant in Bouton Community events.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Mabel, wife, Marlene, brother, Max Phillips, sister, Norma Woods, and son-in-law, Brian Kirvin.
Survivors include his sons, Max (Sherrill) Phillips, Woodward, IA, and Gale Phillips, Bouton, IA, a daughter, Alene Kirvin, Prole, IA, grandchildren, Aaron (Laura) Phillips, Eagle Grove, IA, Kate (Jerrod) Fleming, Phoenix, AZ, Madison (Caleb) Taylor, Austin, TX, Hannah Kirvin, Sioux City, IA, Ben Phillips, Ogden, IA, Jess Phillips, Perry, IA, brother, Wayne (Sally) Phillips, Murray, IA, sister, June Flaherty, Osceola, IA, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dale Phillips age 90, of Bouton died on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Perry Lutheran Home in Perry. Memorials may be given to Christ Lutheran Church or Perry Lutheran Home and may be left at the Carris Family Funeral Home in Perry.
