William “Bill” Hammons, 62, of Creston died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2015, at Greater Regional Medical Center in Creston.
A memorial gathering was held from 2 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday. William Allen Hammons, son of Irene Vera Comer and William Silas Hammons, was born April 10, 1953, in Osceola. He attended Osceola Schools.
On Nov. 11, 1972, he married Shannon Charmayne Delaney in Osceola. They settled in Creston where Bill worked for Wellmans as a sand mixer and also worked in foundry support until 2011, when his health prevented him from working.
Bill is survived by his wife Shannon Hammons of Creston; sons, Chad (Amy) Hammons and Clint (Randi) Hammons, both of Creston; grandchildren, Stone, Brandon, Conner, Alice and Xander Hammons; mother-in-law Pauletta Delaney of Creston and sisters, Alice Piercy of Des Moines, Vera (Randy) Dunbar of Osceola; Jeanie (Ray) Coenen of Osceola and Laura Lee Hammons of Norwalk.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, father-in-law Larry Delaney and three brothers-in-law.
