David “Gabby” Alan Adair, 62, of Knob Noster, Missouri, died Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016, at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines after an ice fishing accident alongside his son Joseph, who also died in the accident.
Services were held 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola with the Rev. Chuck DeVos officiating. Visitation with family present was from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, at the funeral home. Interment was in Maple Hill Cemetery. David “Gabby” Alan Adair, son of Max Adair and Beulah (Critz) Adair, was born Aug. 1, 1953, in Osceola. David received his education in Clarke Community Schools graduating in 1971, and later attended Southwestern Community College.
On July 31, 1977, David married Donna Lynn Clark at Osceola. David began working at Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola in 1982 and later became the superintendent. He continued his work at Maple Hill until 1996 when he moved to Alabama with his family. Later in his life, David felt the calling to help people in a different way and returned to school in order to become a funeral director. He has served many families over his 14 years as a licensed funeral director and embalmer for Sweeney-Phillips and Holdren Funeral Home in Warrensburg, Missouri.
David also served his community as president of Lion’s Club and while living in Osceola, he was involved with Osceola Mat Club and Osceola Little League.
David is survived by his wife Donna Lynn Adair of Knob Noster, Missouri; parents Max and Beulah of Phoenix, Arizona; sons, Gabe (Rana) Adair of Urbandale, Josh Adair of Woodland and Jake Adair of Knob Noster, Missouri; grandchildren, Taylor, Cole and Chase of Urbandale; brothers, Denny Adair of Osceola, Jim (Laurel) Adair of Arizona, John (Cindy) Adair of Arizona, Mike (Janet) Adair of Tennessee and Ron Adair of Iowa; father-in-law Gerald (Lynette) Clark of Osceola; brother-in-law Rob (Nila) Clark of Osceola; as well as other relatives and many friends.
David was preceded in death by his mother-in-law Dee Clark; sister-in-law Debbie Clark and grandparents, Russell and Mable Critz and Hazel and Marlo Adair.
