Marion Manley, 74, of Afton died Wednesday, April 6, 2016, at his home in Afton.
Celebration of life services were held 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 11, at Powers Funeral Home, junction of highways 34 and 25, in Creston. Mary O'Riley officiated the service. Burial was in Maple Hill Cemetery in rural Cromwell. Open visitation was from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 10, with family present from 1 to 3 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials are to be determined. Marion Owen Manley, son of Inez (Mason) Manley and Leo Virgil Manley, was born March 20, 1942, in rural Clarke County. He received his early education at Powell Liberty No. 7 School and then attended Osceola High School, graduating in May 1960.
In July of 1961, Marion married Patricia Ramsey. Their daughter Keri was born in 1962. Marion, Pat and Keri moved to Creston in January 1964. Their son Greg was born in 1966.
Marion married Joyce Jones in March 1980, and acquired another daughter and son, Jana and Jamie.
Marion worked different occupations and in 1970, joined the Creston Police Department, retiring as Captain in 1997 after 27 years of service. After retirement, he worked for SIRWA, Adams County Sheriff Department, Max Smith Construction, T.J.’s and owned Cromwell Tap.
Marion is survived by his daughters, Keri Manley of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Jana (Lynn) Weland of Creston; sons, Greg (Mary) Manley of Malvern and Jamie Christensen of Creston; four grandsons; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; two great-grandsons; former wives, Patricia Manley of Grand Junction, Colorado, and Joyce Manley of Creston; brother Myron (Linda) Manley of Osceola; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Marion was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Inez Manley and his sister Mary Helgevold.
