Doris Miller Murray

Doris Jean Miller, 82, of Murray died Sunday, Aug. 14, 2016, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines.

Services were 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola with the Rev. Dwayne Henrichs officiating. Visitation with family present was from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment was in Murray Cemetery. Doris Jean Miller, daughter of Everett Samuel Howe and Lulu Mae (Buckmiller) Howe, was born Aug. 30, 1933, at home near Orient. Doris received her education in Orient Consolidated Schools.

On Jan. 10, 1952, Doris married Garnet “Nile” Miller.

Doris operated the Creston Sale Barn Cafe for approximately one year, besides working at various restaurants like Family Table for 13 1/2 years and Clarke County Hospital for 8 1/2 years, as well as Afton Care and Murray Café. She also sold Avon.

Doris was a member of the Neighborhood Club when she lived on the farm.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Beverly (Doyle) Ellis of New Virginia, Sheila Miller of Iowa City, Nila (Rob) Clark of Osceola, Lila (Joel) Johnson of Norwalk and Beth (James) Guinn of Arlington, Texas; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild as well as other relatives and many friends.

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, husband Nile and granddaughter Mandy Ellis.
