Daniel Danner, 90, of Woodburn died Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Lucas County Health Center in Chariton.
Graveside services were 2 p.m. Sunday, March 19, at Last Chance Cemetery near Derby. Visitation with family present was from 5 to 7 p.m. Saturday, March 18, at Pierschbacher Funeral Home, 914 Roland Ave., in Chariton. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Hospital. Daniel Earl Danner, son of John and Lucy Heston Danner, was born Dec. 30, 1926, at home near Woodburn. He graduated from LeRoy High School in 1945. He was drafted into the Army three days after graduation. After basic training, he served in Germany.
On April 29, 1947, he married Pauline Dolph upon returning home from the service. They made their home near Woodburn and have lived together on the farm for nearly 70 years. Dan was a farmer raising corn, beans, cattle, hogs and sheep. In addition, he drove the school bus for LeRoy Schools and worked at Johnson Machine Works.
Dan and Pauline participated in Woodburn Booster Club and hosted dances and jam sessions for 33 years.
Daniel is survived by his wife of nearly 70 years, Pauline Danner; daughters, Kathy Thoreson, Sharon Kistler and Danette (Rick) McBroom; grandchildren, Rhiannon (Mike) Baker, Rene Thoreson, Zach (Heidi) Kistler, Calieb (Cheyenne) Kistler, Cheyenne Williams, Stacy (Curt) Smyser, Morgan Pontius and Taylor (Seth) Grgurich; great-grandchildren, Genesis, Vincent, Kennedy, Sydney, Maddox, Remington, Autumn, Lexi, Brynli, Cole and Harlee; brothers, Bill Danner and Herman (Lois) Danner; sister Flo (Wilford) O’Neal; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry Danner.
