South Central Iowa players of the week: Three Clarke athletes named week one

The first spring sports South Central Iowa player of the week polls have been conducted with five winners for week one (April 1-7), three of which came from Clarke.

Polls were conducted on the Twitter profile of CNA/OST/FO/ACFP sports editor Kaleb Carter (@Kaleb_M_Carter) and at https://cnacontests.blogspot.com/.

Boys track — Clarke senior Humberto Arellano

(36 percent of the combined vote on Twitter and CNA contests website)

One meet: First place 400 meter dash (54.36), third place 200 meter dash (23.85), part of fourth place 4x400 meter and sprint medley teams.

Tennis – Meredyth Olson, Clarke

(31 percent of the combined vote on Twitter and CNA contests website)

Two meets: 4-0 with 8-0, 8-1 singles wins and 8-0, 8-1 doubles wins

Golf – Clarke junior Conner Deutsch

(45 percent of the combined vote on Twitter and CNA contests website)

In two nine-hole rounds: 36, 43

Girls track — Creston sophomore MaKenna Hudson

(40 percent of the combined vote on Twitter and CNA contests website)

One meet: Second place in the 200 meter dash (27.69), part of first place winning 4x400 meter, sprint medley and distance medley teams

Soccer — Creston freshman Clayton Stafford

(47 percent of the combined vote on Twitter and CNA contests website)
