Miller Products continues decades’ tradition of manufacturing in Iowa

For decades, Miller Products Company has been producing high-quality machined parts in South-Central Iowa, proudly filling their workforce with employees from Osceola, Clarke County, and surrounding areas.

As a start-up, in 1936, the Don Miller Cycle Company set up shop in Central Iowa. Offering a variety of services including bicycle sales and maintenance, skate sharpening, toy car repair and more, the company quickly established itself as a manufacturing staple in the community. Don Miller - always passionate about innovation and service - patented his own bicycle kickstand design in 1940. From there, the drive for constant improvement in manufacturing continued and in 1956 Miller Products was purchased by the McFarland Family, moving operations to a brand-new 40,000 sq. ft. facility in Osceola, Iowa and has relied upon the Osceola and Clarke County workforce ever since.

“It’s nice walking through the plant and seeing Southern Iowa’s work ethic in action,” said Kerry Richardson, Sales/Marketing Manager.

Today, Miller Products Company specializes in single spindle, CNC and multi-spindle screw machined parts, stocking over 220 different non-threaded products. They take pride in their manufacturing history and customer service.

“Miller Products has been one of our community’s strongest advocates,” said Bill Trickey, Executive Director of the Clarke County Development Corporation. “Their continued involvement in the community means better jobs and better opportunities for generations to come.”

Being part of the community means more than just working within city limits. Miller Products has partnered with Clarke Schools and other local manufacturers as a Charter Member of the Industrial Arts Advisory Board. Through the Advisory Board, Miller Products can provide real-world guidance to Clarke students about industrial arts in Osceola and Clarke County. The Advisory Board works to guide and mentor students interested in a future in manufacturing and industrial technology. The 2018-19 school year for Clarke Schools should be exciting, with planned events for the Industrial Arts Advisory Board and Clarke students.
