Mustangs in top third of Bluegrass results

LAMONI – Both the Murray boys and girls took third Monday at the Bluegrass Conference track and field meet.

With 108 team points, the Mustang boys finished behind Ankeny-Christian Academy with 111 points and champions Lamoni with 184.5.

The Mustang girls scored 105 points behind Seymour’s 134.5 and Lamoni’s 166.5.

The boys best finishes on the track came from Colton Siefkas’ 3,200 meter time of 11:21.14, placing second. The 800 meter relay team of Josh Webb, Reece Held, Wyatt Gannon and Chance Lecy also finished second with a time of 1:44.53. The 400 relay team of Webb, Held, and Cole and Chance Lecy also took second at 49.24.

The Mustang boys placed back-to-back in the 1,600 meter run as Christian Nevarez and Siefkas ran a 5:09.03 and a 5:16.55 time, respectively.

Murray was able to break through and take first in the high jump as Held cleared 6-feet even, edging out Ethan Harrington of Melcher-Dallas.

Brycen Wookey’s throw of 39-1 3/4 in the shot put went for third and Wyatt Myers’ throw in the discus was fifth best at 99-5 1/2.

The Murray girls had quality times from Megan Keller in the 100 meter dash, running a 13.03 that was as tenth of a second off of Ankeny-Christian’s Olivia Osborn, who was two hundredths of a second off first place Abby Martin of Lamoni.

Megan Keller returned in the 400 meter dash for a meet best time of 1:03.70. She’d also place fourth in the 800 with a time of 3:10.77.

The 800 relay team of Hailey Chew, Mackenzie Keller, Emma Decker and Kelli Romero took first with a time of 2:03.93, the best result of Murray’s relay teams. The 400 team of Mackenzie Keller, Romero, Carla Ivaldi and Chew was third, running a 59.21 clip.

Murray grabbed two first place finishes in the field with Emma Decker taking first in the shot put, throwing a 32-1 distance. Ivaldi’s long jump distance was the longest in the group at 14-11. Chew’s long jump of 14-5 1/4 was third best.
