Helen Catherine Allen, 94, of Osceola died Saturday, May 11, 2019, at Clarke County Hospital in Osceola.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 17, at Kale Funeral Home, 301 S. Main St., in Osceola with the Rev. Benjamin Stalcup Sr. officiating. Open visitation will be Thursday, May 16, with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery. Helen Catherine Allen, daughter of Leonard Pearl Saddoris and Nora (Pressley) Saddoris, was born April 15, 1925, in Osceola. Helen lived all her life in Osceola. She graduated from Osceola High School.
On July 3, 1943, she married Dennis Clayton Allen in Osceola. Helen was a housewife, and in 1963, she also began as a cook for the Clarke Elementary School in Osceola. She retired as head cook in 1987.
Helen was a member of Calvary Bible Church in Osceola.
Helen is survived by her daughter Peggy Allen of Ankeny; sons, Mike (Gayle) Allen of Osceola and David (Deanna) Allen of Osceola; grandchildren, Travis (Monica) Hartman of Haslet, Texas, Megan (Michael) Huff of Springfield, Georgia, Alena Allen of Osceola and Clayton Allen of Osceola; eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Harold (Carol) Saddoris of Washington and Stan (Nancy) Saddoris of Minnesota; sister Martha Snyder of West Des Moines; as well as other relatives and many friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Nora Saddoris; husband Dennis Allen and sisters, Donna Saddoris and Louise Hart.
