Michael Foland

With heavy hearts, but also rejoicing, Michael D. Foland, 45, of Bettendorf went home to be with the Lord in the early morning hours of Wednesday, July 17, 2019. He’s healed and whole and walking in paradise with his heavenly body.

His funeral service was held Monday, July 22, at New Life Fellowship in Moline, Illinois. Memorials may be directed to www.givesendgo.com/MichaelFoland. 

Mike was born May 28, 1974, in Des Moines, the son of Darel D. and Phyllis A.(Mills) Foland. He was united in marriage to Amber M. Ferris on June 27, 1998, in Rockford, Illinois. He was employed with Gray Machine and Welding in Rock Island, Illinois.

Mike truly loved the Lord with all his heart. He would hope for all who see this message to believe in the Lord Jesus and choose to follow Him because He is truly a lifegiver.

His wife, Amber, his three daughters and young son were his whole world and heart, even taking care of Amber in the very last moments. Those who know him, know how important spending time with family was and how much he loved them and everyone. Everyone who knew him and anyone he met deeply felt his genuine and constant compassion, kindness and grace.

He had a passion for woodworking and a love for playing games of all kinds. He filled his heart with praise music worshipping with his own guitar, was deeply involved with and loved his home church, and was quite often the clown of the crowd. He was a loving and loved husband and father, son, grandson, uncle and brother.

A true blessing was that Michael was aware and mentally present with us clear to the end, which was something truly he wanted. While it breaks all our hearts, because there was so much more planned in his and his family’s hearts for the future, we do know we’ll all be seeing him one day soon in heaven.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife Amber; his daughters, Alexis, Elizabeth and Nicole; his son Wesley; his parents, Darel and Phyllis Foland of Van Wert; his sisters, Laura (David) Hollinger of Murray and Rhonda (Steve) Tinkham of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; his brother Richard Foland of Indianola; his grandmother Juanita Mills of Van Wert; his sisters and brothers-in-law, Steven (Jennifer) Ferris of Rockford, Jeremy Ferris of Texas, Amanda Bergstrom of Illinois and Justin Cole of DeKalb, Illinois; and his nieces and nephews, Zachary Ferris, Evelyn Ferris, Cheza Cole, Drako Cole, Jason Hollinger, Kahlan Hollinger, Justin Hollinger, Job Tinkham, Ethan Tinkham, Nolan Tinkham, Blake Thorn, Jaylin Thorn, Christian Foland, Eva Foland, Ian Foland and Lillian Foland.
