Carol Jane Robins, age 83 of Osceola, IA., the oldest daughter of Lloyd Norval and Clarice Aileen McGee Gardner, was born on January 19, 1936 on a farm NE of Weldon, IA in the Smyrna Friends neighborhood during a major blizzard. She left this life on Wednesday, September 11, 2019 at Southern Hills Specialty Care in Osceola, IA surrounded by her family.
Carol’s family moved to Washington for two years when she was very small. A couple years after moving back to Iowa, Carol started kindergarten at Thayer, IA. Her family later moved to Omaha, NE for two years and then back to Iowa. Carol went to different schools including Weldon and Leroy. While living in Weldon, Carol was a member of the Pollie Pigtails. She also attended country school at Leslie, IA. Her family finally settled on a farm 4 miles east of Osceola. Carol graduated from Osceola High School with the Class of 1955 along with her best friend Doris Mateer.
On June 3, 1955 Carol enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. She attended boot camp at Parris Island, SC and then was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. She and her husband Jim lived in Hawaii for a time. Carol was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps on March 6, 1956.
Carol was united in marriage to James Clinton Green at Oceanside, CA on October 23, 1955. Three children were born to this union, Cheryl Lynn, Vicki Ann and Darwin Lee. The couple later divorced.
Carol was united in marriage to Daryl Burdette Paschall on October 26, 1965 in Osceola, IA. To this union one daughter, Patti Ann was born. The couple later divorced.
Carol was united in marriage to Howard Eugene Robins on August 22, 1987 in Osceola, IA.
In high school, Carol worked at the B&H and The Highway House restaurants. After her children were born Carol worked at many places including The Whiteway Café and the Pick Up & Go. Other mentionable employment was at Clarke County Public Health, Snowden’s for 5 years, Furnas Electric for 9 years and Bethphage Mission for 8 years until her retirement.
In her free time Carol enjoyed gardening, her flower beds and spending time with her family. She also enjoyed taking bus trips all over.
She took trips back to Hawaii as well. She was an excellent cook and baker and made the absolute best noodle dumplings ever.
Preceding Carol in death were her parents, sister, Mary, daughter-in-law, Bonnie Jo Green and nephew, Gregory William White.
Survivors include her children: Cheryl Lynn Schlotterer of Tucson, AZ., Vicki Ann Fattore of Creston, IA., Darwin Lee Green of Hudson, IA., and Patti Ann Jimmerson (Galen) of Grand River, IA.; four grandchildren and their spouses, Jessica Lynn Greenbauer (Zach) of Reston, VA., Justin David Summers (Sarah) of Afton, IA., Alisha Renae Lamb (Cassidy) of Murray, IA., Joshua Kyle Summers (Britanie) of Hot Springs, SD., two step-grandchildren, Byron Lee Jimmerson (Nicole) of Osceola, IA., Jewel Joy Hogberg (Matthew) of Kansas City, MO.; great-grandchildren, Carson Alanna and Tegan Jane Summers, Ayden Michael, Audrina Mae, and Abel Matthew Lamb, Ellianah Marie, Leeland Kyle, Benjamin Michael and Everett Paul Summers, Emma LeeAnn and Gracelyn Michelle Jimmerson and Dylan Matthew Hogberg; sisters Nancy Ellen Saddoris (Stanley) of Eden Prairie, MN., and Clarice Marie White (Robert) of Osceola, IA., nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Saturday September 14, 2019 at 10:00 am with Pastor Benjamin Stalcup Sr. officiating.
Visitation will be open after 12 noon Friday and the family will greet friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Friday, September 13, 2019 at Kale Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery
