DES MOINES – Clarke blanked Saydel Friday night, winning in decisive fashion in a 39-0 win.
The Indians’ ground game was back in motion as Brian Avalos racked up 212 yards rushing for the team-high. He also added two scores, including a 54-yard score for the longest in the game.
Chris Carson paired up with Avalos for 119 yards rushing, averaging 14.9 yards per carry with one score. The touchdown went 44-yards.
Tanner Fry and Ryan Phillips had rushing scores in the win, combining for 72 yards on four carries.
The shutout is the first for Clarke this season and the first since Aug. 24 of 2018. The last team to be blanked by Clarke was Martensdale-St. Marys in a 45-0 season-opening win.
Harley Leeps had two tackles for a loss to lead Clarke. Alejandro Davis and Fani Fry each had a sack. Davis had 4 1/2 tackles for the team-high.
Carson and Fry both added fumble recoveries to the turnover department in the win.
UP NEXT – Clarke (3-2) will his the road for Des Moines Christian Friday for its second straight road game.
Clarke dropped its last match against Des Moines Christian 63-30 last season and a win for the Indians gives Clarke back-to-back wins for the first time this season.
