Jim Penick

James Lyle Penick, son of James Albert Penick and Jean Marie Baker Penick was born December 4, 1950 in Osceola, Iowa and passed from this life Saturday, November 16, 2019 at MercyOne Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa at 68 years of age.

Jim was a lifetime resident of Osceola. He graduated from Clarke Community High School with the class of 1969. Following graduation Jim proudly served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was stationed in Germany. He returned from the Army and attended Southwestern Community College in Creston, graduating in 1973. Jim married Connie Kay Miller on July 22, 1972 in Osceola and two daughters blessed the union.

Jim worked for Allen Electronics and later purchased the business and operated it as Penick Electric and Radio Shack, later moving to a new location as Radio Shack and US Cellular. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother. He enjoyed playing softball, bowling, golfing, fishing and mostly riding his motorcycles.

Those relatives who preceded James in death were his father, James Albert Penick, and sister, Peggy Penick.

Jim leaves to cherish his memory; his loving wife Connie Penick of Osceola, IA, mother, Jean Marie Penick of Osceola, IA, daughter, Courtney  (Trent) Denney of Osceola, IA, daughter, Manda (Colter) Wright of Osceola, IA, brother, Kenneth (Marilyn) Penick of Murray, IA, brother, Rick (Kristy) Penick of Ellston, IA, five grandsons, Skylar (CarlyAnn Daly) Johnson, Noah Denney, Luke Denney, Alec Wright, and Drake Wright as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

Funeral services will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Wednesday November 20, 2019 at 10:30 am with Pastor Marty Burgus officiating.

Family will greet friends from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm Tuesday, November 19, 2019 at Kale Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery
