Area boys basketball roundup: Murray's win streak snapped, Central Decatur routs East Union

Mount Ayr 77, Murray 63

MOUNT AYR – Murray fell 63-77 to Class 1A No. 9 Mount Ayr to snap its six-game win streak Monday night.

Things were tight as Mount Ayr took a 22-16 first-quarter lead. The Mustangs fought back with a 23-22 second quarter of their own to cut the lead to 44-39 at halftime.

The Raiders poured things on in the third quarter, outscoring Murray 26-12, but the Mustangs made a late comeback, finishing the game with a 23-7 final period.

Jace Rodecker scored 16 points with three steals and two blocks. Reece Held put up 15 points of his own with nine rebounds.

Knoxville 64, Clarke 59

KNOXVILLE – Clarke fell just shy of Knoxville Friday night with a 64-59 loss.

Knoxville came out of the gate scoring early and often to take a 34-22 lead at halftime. Clarke made a strong second-half run, scoring 20 points in the third quarter and 17 in the fourth, but it wasn't enough for the Indians.

Dalton Stubbe and Umar Bulis scored 22 and 21 points, respectively. Stubbe and Bulis grabbed 12 rebounds each to account for a double-double.

Madrid 69, Interstate 35 49

MADRID – Interstate 35 fell 69-49 to Madrid Thursday.

Things were consistent in the first half with Madrid scoring 16 points in the first and second quarters while I-35 scored 12 in each quarter.

Madrid started to pour it on in the second half, outscoring I-35 37-25 in the second half to extend its lead.

Carter Bussanmas led the team in scoring with 24 points and nine rebounds. Mick Vonfelt scored 10 points.
