Kathleen Renè Werner, age 39 of Murray, Iowa, was born April 2, 1980 in St. Paul, Nebraska and passed from this life Tuesday, March 31, 2020 after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer.

Kathleen was the only daughter of Sandi (Smalley) Myers and Duane Canfield.  She graduated from North Newton High School in Morocco, Indiana in 1998.

After graduation Kathy moved to Murray, Iowa where she met and married the love of her life Benjamin Raymond Werner on June 23, 2001, in Murray, Iowa.  They were blessed with three children, Rilee John, Chase Michal and Kalli Irene.

Kathy was a loving and devoted wife and mother that loved traveling to the ocean, soaking up the warm weather and hanging in the backyard pool.  She loved watching her boys play sports and making memories with them and Kalli.  Her passions were family, friends and football and she was an avid Nebraska Huskers and Green Bay Packers fan.

For many years Kathy provided childcare for families in the Murray Community.  She later moved into the Murray Community School as a preschool associate continuing her work with the young children she loved so much.  She was very active in the school and community volunteering her time.

Those family member that preceded Kathy in death are Grandparents Bud and Margie Smalley; Grandparents Ray and Wretha Webb and Grandfather Richard Myers.

Kathy leave to cherish her memory, husband Benjamin Werner of Murray, Iowa; sons, Rilee John and Chase Michal and daughter Kalli Irene all of Murray, Iowa.  Parents Sandi Myers of Adel, Iowa; Duane (Valerie) Canfield of California; Robert (Laurie) Myers of Murray, Iowa.  Father and Mother-in-law Joe and Pat Werner of Murray, Iowa.  Brother DJ (Jen) Canfield of North Platte, Nebraska.  Brother-in-law Nikolaus (Brandy Cummins) Werner of Murray, Iowa and Sister-in-law Heidi (Mike) Henry of Osceola, Iowa.  Grandparents Rex and Blanche Canfield; Nephews Jonah Canfield, Lukas Werner, Daniel Cooper and Noah Nelson.  Nieces Emma Werner and Josey Henry, as well as many other loving family members and close friends.

The family will host a celebration of Kathy’s life at a later date.
