Roger Grimm

Osceola

Roger Boyd Grimm, son of Charles Frederick Grimm and Bernice Ora (Woods) Grimm was born February 24, 1930 in Osceola, Iowa and passed from this life Saturday, April 4, 2020 at the Clarke County Hospital in Osceola, Iowa at 90 years of age.

Roger grew up around rural Woodburn.  He served his country in the Navy during the Korean War.  Roger was united in marriage to Kathryn Lorena McBroom on November 12, 1954 in Indianola, IA.  Together they farmed and raised their family in the Woodburn area.  They moved from the Woodburn farm to Osceola in 1992, when he semi retired.

Roger enjoyed being a farmer.  He was a warm big hearted man with an infectious smile.  He loved his livestock and animals in general, especially his 3 house dogs, Archie, Molly and George.  He was a hard worker and enjoyed cracking walnuts and sharing the meats during the winter when he couldn’t work outside.  Even though he was semi retired, he maintained his farmyard like a groundskeeper at a golf course.  He enjoyed watching westerns, music and dancing with Kathryn.  He loved restoring old tractors and was a member of the Clarke County Old Iron Club.

Those relatives who preceded Roger in death were his wife, Kathryn Lorena Grimm, parents, Charles and Bernice Grimm, parents-in-law, James K. and Vera N. McBroom, brother-in-law, Clovis N. “Toby” McBroom, brother & sister-in-law, Richard K. “Buck” and Patricia McBroom, sister & brother-in-law, Rosa L & J.C. Niday.
