Osceola

Robert Joel Wuthrich, son of Albert and Elizabeth Wuthrich, was born October 18, 1923 in West Bend, IA and passed from life April 17th, 2020 at the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown, IA, Friday April 17, 2020.

Raised on a rural farm in Davis County, IA, Robert graduated from Pulaski High School in 1942. Shortly after graduation, Robert enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943 to serve his country during WWII and was honorably discharged in 1946. He served in the 7th Fleet in the Pacific Theater.

Robert was united in marriage to Arnoldean Joy “Deanie” Draper on December 1, 1946 in Des Moines, Iowa where they lived before moving to Osceola, IA in 1968 to raise their four boys, Bob, Mike, Jim and Dan. Robert retired after 30 years from Miller Products in Osceola, Iowa where he worked as machinist and plant manager.

Robert enjoyed golfing, playing cards, and socializing with his friends over the years. A favorite past time of his was cheering on the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs. Robert also volunteered his time to the local Little League where he coached his boys’ teams. Robert enjoyed antiquing with his with his wife Deanie, woodworking, camping, western movies, gardening, and a cold beer. One of his funniest lines on the golf course when someone was struggling during a round was to say, “Just Pop One.”

Later in Robert’s life, he moved back to Bloomfield, Iowa where he spent several years enjoying companionship with Helen Ernst, and spending time with his brothers, sisters, and several nieces and nephews, as well as other relatives and friends.

Those relatives who preceded Robert in death are his Spouse, Arnoldean “Deanie” Joy Wuthrich, Father, Albert Nathaniel Wuthrich, Mother, Elizabeth Banwart Wuthrich, Sister, Delores Kiefer, Brother, Bert Wuthrich, Sister, Betty Lou Wuthrich, Grandchild, Nathan Wuthrich, Sister-in-Law, Karoline Wuthrich and Brothers-in-Law, James Sutter and Robert Kiefer.

Robert leaves to cherish his memory are his four sons, Robert (Karen) Wuthrich of Fort Smith, AR, Michael D. Wuthrich Osceola IA,  James (Jeannie) Wuthrich of Mapleton, UT, Daniel (Sarah) Wuthrich of Castle Rock, CO; Brothers, Russell (Karoline Deceased) Wuthrich of Bloomfield  IA, Joel (Shirley) Wuthrich of Bloomfield, IA, William (Gloria) Wuthrich of Marysville, Mo; Sisters: Lois (James Deceased) Sutter of Palmyra, MO and Mary Elizabeth (John) Gramm of Gridley IL. He is also survived by his thirteen grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

A special thank you to the people at Iowa Veterans Home for their loving care and support during his final days. Also, the family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude towards Kale’s Funeral Home for being very accommodating and understanding during this difficult time.

Visitation will be open on Friday,  April 24 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola. Due to the Covid-19 (corona virus) pandemic a private family graveside service will be held April 25th, 2020.

A Celebration of Life for Robert will be held later this year after restrictions are lifted.

Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery Memorial contributions may be directed to the Osceola Municipal Golf Course for a memorial bench in Bob’s name.
