Carey Courtney

Carey Lee Courtney, son of Harold (Tate) W. Courtney and Norma (Brandt) Courtney was born July 13, 1956 in Clarke County, Iowa and passed from this life Friday, June 5, 2020 at 63 years of age.

Carey received his education in Morman Trail Schools and then graduated from Central Decatur High School in 1974.

He was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Creveling on July 27, 1975 in Osceola, Iowa.   Coresa and Eric blessed this union.

Carey worked as a Plant Manager for Manatt’s Inc. for 17 years.  He was a member of Christ’sway Church and the NRA.

Those relatives who preceded Carey in death were his parents, Tate and Norma Courtney; 2nd set of parents, Uncle Dave and Aunt Pat Jones; mother-in-law, Emma  Creveling; sister, Kelly Sue Layton; and granddaughter, Nikayle Rychnovsky.

Carey leaves to cherish his memory; spouse, Patricia Courtney of Osceola, IA; daughter, Coresa (Mike) Rychnovsky of Osceola, IA; son, Eric Courtney of Osceola, IA; grandchildren; Carrie Ann (Joey) Throckmorton-Mitchell, Andrew McKnight, Tryce Rychnovsky; brother, Chris (Melissa) Courtney; sisters, Kayla Palmer, Karla (Chris) Harrah; sisters-in-law, Carol Jones, Julie (Denny) Halls; brother-in-law, Lynn Creveling; father-in-law, Robert Creveling as well as many nieces, nephews and even more cousins.  So many friends that are more like family.

Services will be held Sunday, July 12 at 3:00 p.m. at Christ’sway Church in Osceola.

Interment will follow at 6:00 p.m. in the Leon Cemetery, Leon, Iowa.

Memorials may be directed to the family for a fitting tribute to be decided at a later date.
