The Harvest Barn Market Place celebrated its 20th anniversary and owners Amy and Jason Boyer offered in store deals to mark the occassion.
The Harvest Barn was built in 1932 and bought by the Boyer’s in 2000.
“After a life changing tegedy of losing my sister in a cat accident, I realized how short life can be and decide to chase a life long dream of having our own farm market type store,” said Amy. “We also wanted to diversify our family farm so we could ultimately both work on it to raise our family.”
In the begining the Boyer’s sold produce and country inspired gifts. Their homemade fudge was added in 2008 and they began selling their own farm raised beef and pork in 2010.
“The fall and holiday seasons continue to be our busiest times of the year and continue to grow,” said Amy.
The goals that the Boyer’s have for the Harvest Barn are to continue to be a place where people can find unique, delicious one of a kind products. They want to be a place for families and friends to relax, slow down and enhoy each other and all the southern Iowa has to offer.
“It has been a journey of excitement, hard work, tears, fears, and lots and lots of hours but it truly has been an incredible journey for me and our family,” said Amy. “We have amazing loyal customers that have supported us since day one. They say it takes a village to raise a family, well it also takes a village to raise a small business and we have had a wonderful village.”
