During a period of high winds Monday, the Osceola Volunteer Fire Department worked to suppress the embers that were beginning to rekindle after a previous fire Sunday at 229 N. Park St. Winds were steadily 29 mph with gusts up to 38 mph. The OVFD crew left midday after getting the smoke under control but were called back when wind gusts began to affect the location of the embers again. No flames broke out from this rekindling, OVFD was able to keep it to only smoke.
