After a year off, and back by popular demand, Thursdays In the Park return. Join OCMS for the kick-off event, June 3rd “Meet Your OCMS Business Partners.” Free pulled pork sandwiches courtesy Osceola Foods and Hy-Vee will be served by OCMS Board Members; entertainment by the Salt Creek Band.
Meet the people behind the businesses that help make OCMS run; contribute to community activities; support other Osceola Businesses, and provide jobs. Door prizes throughout the evening.
Spring Fling Wrap-Up
The reimagined Snowflake Ball happened under the roof of the Clarke County Fairgrounds show ring, with Tawny Waske at the Microphone keeping the tunes going. Children were treated to a goody bag provided by OCMS and everyone could purchase food from the Clarke County Cattlemen. The fair board served beverages and sponsor, Dr. David Hoadley and Tammy Fitzpatrick from Osceola Vision snapped photos to commemorate the fun.

OCMS Director, Ashleigh Eckels, secured the carnival last summer after the traditional celebration was canceled and the OCMS Fourth of July Committee began meeting several months ago to schedule each day, contact entertainment and vendors, invite judges, and details too many to list.

Osceola Public Library Summer Activities
The OPL staff packed their calendar with activities for young and not-so-young. The summer reading program for up through 12th grade begins June 7, but that is just the beginning of fun. Other events include visiting artists and performers, magic, geocaching, bird watching, canvas painting, escape rooms, Polka music, parrots and more.
Some events require pre-registration and kids craft days are limited to participants. Pick up the full calendar at the library.
Free Smithsonian Virtual Scholar Talk
Because OCMS hosted the Smithsonian Traveling Exhibit, the Institute frequently sends free educational links and materials via email. This virtual event 7 p.m. ET June 17, features Dr. Jon Grinspan, Curator in the Division of Political and Military History at the National Museum of American History.
