Clarke County Fair 2021 royalty candidates, show schedule

The Clarke County Fair 2021 Queen candidates are Breanna Selsor, Calleigh Klein and Sydney Garret. Get to know the queen candidates below/

Breanna Selsor’s parents are Shane and Paula Selsor. She is sponsored by the Osceola big Chief FFA and will be escorted by Hunter Garrett. Selsor attends Clarke Community High School where her activities include varsity volleyball, bowling, golf and softball. She is a member of the student council, CCOPS, 4-H and National Honors Society. Selsor has also participated as cast and crew in several high school musicals and plays. She is a Warrior Packs Founder. Her other community activities include vacation Bible school volunteer, pee-wee golf volunteer and ag club leader.

Some of Selsor’s special awards are volleyball spirit/sportsman award, South Central All Conference golfer, FFA Chapter Degree, FFA chapter sweetheart, bowling spirit/sportman and Most Improved Award, FFA LDE State qualifier, Distinguished in Academic Award, “A” honor roll, and South Central Conference Academic Award.

Her hobbies are hunting, kayaking, camping, playing travel softball and baking.

For her senior year, Selsor plans on finishing her Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts and then transferring to Iowa State University to major in Animal Science and Communications.

Calleigh Klein’s parents are Jeanne and David Klein. Her escort will be Ely Crawford. Klein attends Murray School. Her school activities include softball, volleyball, National Honor Society, FBLA, CCOPS, band and TAG. Klein is the junior high softball assistant coach.

Her special awards are 2020 Softball Defensive Player of the Year, Iowa State Honor Band, 1st place at FBLA state in Intro to Business Communication Objective Test, high honor roll.

Klein likes to draw or paint in her free time, anything creative.

She plans to major in architecture in the future.

Sydney Garret’s parents Doug Garret and Danise Russo. She will be escorted by Raider Collins. Garret was 2018 Clarke County Fair Princess.Her school activities include 4-H, FFA and CCOPS. She held the position of President within each of these organizations while also taking part in volleyball, drama productions and band. Garret recently graduated from DMACC with her AAS in Agriculture Business. While at DMACC, she was very involved in Professional Agriculture Students, where Garret competed both years and advanced to Nationals in Public Speaking, Overall Livestock Evaluation and Job Interview. Garret looks forward to attending Kansas State this fall to continue her education and double major in Agriculture Communications and Animal Science.

Other community activites include coaching for the program “Girls of the Run”, where she worked with girls ages 12-15 to help increase their confidence and self awareness. The girls also train for a 5K helping to increase their spiritual, physical and mental health. during the 2020 Clarke County Fair, Garret had the opportunity to announce the swine show. She said it was a lot of fun since that was her first year not exhibiting her own livestock. In 2021 Garret received her American FFA degree, which has been her goal for five years.

Garret’s hobbies include spending time with friends and family, livestock photography and painting barn quilts. She loves spending time outside running or with her god Lizzy.

Garret currently works for the Iowa Turkey Federation as their Communications Intern. As a recent graduate from DMACC, Garret looks forward to attending Kansas State to complete her education.

Junior Princess candidates include Josslynn Irving, Lydia Miller, Lauren Nold, Brynnley Porter and addison White.

Junior Prince candidates include Haydon Brokaw, Kester Irving and Owen Irving.

I grew up in Osceola and live here still with my husband and son. I graduated with my Bachelor degree in Journalism and Mass Communications in 2017. I have work at the OST since January of 2018.
