Effective June 15, 2022, Osceola is without a mayor following the resignation of Matthew Stoll.
A press release from the City of Osceola, dated June 15, reads:
“Matt Stoll has tendered his resignation as Mayor for the City of Osceola, effective 6/15/2022. Dr. George Fotiadis, Mayor Pro Tem and Councilmember At-Large, will serve as interim Mayor. The Osceola City Council will determine how to fill the vacancy at a future council meeting. The incident that occurred at the Osceola Golf Course on June 4, 2022 remains under review.”
The incident at the Osceola golf course was brought to the attention of city council members and was to be discussed at a later date. Consideration and possible action regarding Stoll’s resignation and a discussion regarding filling the vacancy were held at Tuesday night’s city council meeting. See next week’s Osceola Sentinel-Tribune for the discussion.
Stoll served for a little over six months as mayor, having begun his mayoral duties in January following a contested election in November, 2021 against incumbent mayor Thomas Kedley.
