Lois Brown

Lois Maxine Brown, 89 of Osceola, daughter of Thomas Melvin Leinard and Lulu Mabel (Popp) Leinard was born June 9, 1931, in Fontanelle, Iowa, and passed from this life Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021, at Southern Hills Specialty Care.

Lois received her education in Jackson No. 7 and Washington No. 5 country schools of Adair County and Webster country School in Madison County. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1949.

She was united in marriage to Cyrus Marvin Brown on June 9, 1949 at Greenfield, Iowa. His children, Floyd N., Gerald L., Colleen M., and Caroletta A. joined them as they started their life together in the Winterset area. Three daughters were born to this union, Carolyn L., Jeanette K. and Janet R. The family moved to the Macksburg area in December of 1949 and farmed two and a half years before moving to a farm south of Murray in 1952. They remained on the farm until 1975 when they moved to Murray.

Lois was a homemaker and also worked at Murray Products in Murray, Iowa, for ten years. She was a member of the Good Neighbors Club and the Murray Church of Christ.

Lois loved her family very much and she enjoyed being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was especially fond of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those relatives who preceded Lois in death were her parents; husband, Cyrus Marvin Brown, brother, Donald Leinard, sister-in-law, Gladys Leinard; son, Floyd Neil Brown, grandson, Floyd Brown, Jr., sons-in-law, Dan Sitzman and Paul Ritter.

Lois leaves to cherish her memory; son, Gerald (Carolee) Brown of Lafayette, CO, daughter, Colleen (Jack) Antisdale of Creston, IA, daughter, Caroletta Humphreys of Waukee, IA, daughter, Carolyn (Stanley) Selsor of Van Wert, IA, daughter, Jeanette Sitzman of Corning, IA and daughter, Janet Ritter of Alamogordo, NM. Also surviving is her brother, Carl Leinard of Greenfield, IA as well as 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as well as other relatives and many friends.

Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home in Osceola, Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, at 10:30 am with Pastor Marty Burgus officiating.

The family will greet friends from 9:30 am to 10:30 am Saturday, Jan. 16, 2021, at Kale Funeral Home.

The family and funeral home asks that anyone in attendance at the visitation or funeral service please follow social distancing guidelines. The use of face coverings at either event are REQUIRED. If you are unable to attend the service in person, a live stream will be available at www.kalefuneralhome.com on Lois’s tribute wall beginning at 10:30 am, Saturday.

Interment will be in the Moon Cemetery, Macksburg, Iowa at 12:30p.m. Saturday.
