Clifford Mason

Clifford ‘Punch’ Dwight Mason, 97, of Osceola, son of Owen and Joanna (Waugh) Mason, was born Nov. 27, 1923, near Woodburn, Iowa, and passed from this life Jan. 10, 2021. He was the last of his nine siblings to pass away.

Clifford received his education in Clarke County Iowa and graduated from Woodburn High School in 1941. He was a proud World War II veteran who served in the United States Navy from 1943 to 1946. Punch married Mary Lou Wright Oct. 25, 1947. He was a Surveyor for Clarke County until his retirement in 1985. Clifford loved spending time with family and following the Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals.

Clifford was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lou, his parents, sisters Fern (John) Devore, Inez (Leo) Manley, Mabel (Charles) Frizzell and Cleo (Wayne) O’Neall; brothers (Raymond (Ruth) Mason, Virgil (Ann) Mason, Floyd Mason, Glenn Mason, and Ivan (Barbara) Mason.

Clifford is survived by his sons Steve (Kathy) Mason and Stan (Sharon) Mason; grandchildren Jason, Stefanie, Tork and Christopher, great-granddaughter Hannah, great-great granddaughter Kinsley, sister-in-law Bonnie Mason, brother-in-law Russ (Marie) Wright, special friend Bernita Allen, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Private graveside burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family to be used at a later date.
