Howard LaVern Hill, son of Arthur Benson Hill and Ceclia Katherine (Hohnholt) Hill was born Aug. 1, 1927 near Santee, Nebraska and passed from this life Friday, Feb. 5, 2021 at his home near Osceola, Iowa at 93 years of age.

Howard grew up around Santee, Nebraska and graduated from Bloomfield High School in Nebraska. He served in Germany in the U.S. Army from 1951 until 1953. Following his honorable discharge, he returned to Nebraska for a short time before moving to Granger, Iowa. During this time he met Marcella Valeve Crouch and they were married on November 26, 1954 in Perry, Iowa. Shortly after marriage they moved to Des Moines, Iowa. Once they moved to Iowa they moved to various cities including Runnells and Johnston. Howard worked for Lennox Furnace in Des Moines for over 25 years, then he began full time farming in 1985.

Howard loved farming and raising cattle. He enjoyed the outdoors, as well as deer and mushroom hunting. Howard was hard working and always there for his family. He was a loving Husband, Father, Grandfather and Great Grandfather.

Those relatives who preceded Howard in death were his parents, Arthur and Ceclia Hill, son Randy Hill, brother, Harold Hill and sisters Donnie Kracht, Carol Burdess and Evelyn Johnson.

Howard leaves to cherish his loving wife, Marcella Hill of Osceola, IA, son, Rick Hill of Osceola, IA, son, Kurt Hill of Des Moines, IA, daughter, Connie (David) Terry of St. Charles, IA, daughter, Kayla Hill of Des Moines, IA, sister, Beth Shields, brother, Norman Hill, grandchildren, Chelsey Krause, Amanda Elswick, Jimmy (Becky) Terry, Jennifer (Brandon) Pliler, and Kiana Dotson. Great grandchildren, Christina Davis, Bentley and Emery Pliler, and other cherished relatives and friends.

Visitation will be open on Friday with family greeting friends from 10:00am until 11:00am prior to the service. Funeral service will be at 11:00am Friday at Kale Funeral home in Osceola.

Burial will be in Woodward Cemetery in Woodward, Iowa at 3:00pm on Friday.

Wearing face masks are REQUIRED for attendance to visitation and funeral. If you are unable to attend the service in person, a live stream will be available at www.kalefuneralhome.com  on Howard’s tribute wall beginning at 11:00 am on Friday
