A celebration of life will be held at a later date for Michael Albin Carney, 70, of Osceola, Iowa.
Michael was born on January 26, 1951, in Polk County, Iowa, to Walter B. Carney and Dorothy F. (Rustan) Carney. A short time later, the family moved to the Osceola area, where Michael grew up and spent most of his adult life. Michael was a hard worker, working road construction, concrete finish cement, and running the paving machine for the construction company Ecotech out of Des Moines, where he worked for over 20 years. Even after he retired, he continued to help his brother Steve work on various jobs until last fall.
He lived on a small acreage outside of Osceola, where he gardened and spent time with his pets, Spirit and Lady. Michael loved his horse, “Spirit,” beyond measure, making sure she had a home for life on the Carney family farm before he passed. His dog, “Lady,” was a sweetheart, loving and protecting Michael as he battled his cancer. He also loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. After Michael retired from full-time employment, he developed an interest in raising pheasants and quail, always reading books and magazines so he could learn how to do it the best way possible.
Michael loved his family more than anything. He will be missed dearly by his two children: Robert Carney and Amanda Kiss; 4 grandchildren; siblings: James Carney, Steven Carney, Carolyn Boswell (Steve), and Gary (Martha) Carney; and many cherished nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
Preceding him in death were his parents, Walter and Dorothy, and an infant brother, David Carney.
