Marjorie Ann Neal was born March 18, 1930, to Walter and Anna (Jensen) Hoyt in Cass County, Iowa and passed away at the age of 91 on May 6, 2021, in Osceola, IA. She accepted Christ as her Savior at the age of 9, and after finishing high school in Massena, Iowa, she went to Omaha Bible Institute in Omaha, Nebraska, where she met George Neal, Jr. George and Marj were married on Sept 8, 1951, at the Massena Baptist Church, and shortly after that George was ordained to the ministry and they served the Lord together as pastor and wife for over 50 years, with 24 of those years at the Calvary Baptist Church here in Osceola.
Marj and George raised 2 sons and 4 daughters. Jonathan (Miriam) Neal of LaMirada, CA., Joyce Neal of Osceola, Jean (Phil) Thomson of Nampa, Idaho, Kathryn (Rob) Rebec of O’Fallon, Missouri, Deborah (Barry) Clifford of League City, Texas and George (Bonnie) Neal III of Galesburg, Michigan.
Marjorie was a member of the Leon Bible Church, where she cherished the fellowship of her church family. She lived the last 3 years of her life as a resident of Southern Hills Specialty Care Center in Osceola, where she was loved and cared for so very well.
She was preceded in death by her husband, George Neal in 2009; parents-in-law George & Mae (Horton) Neal, parents Walter & Anna (Jensen) Hoyt, brother & sister-in-law Norman & Virginia Hoyt, brother Merrill Hoyt and sisters-in-law Ruth Hoyt and Betty Hoyt; and sisters-in-law Phoebe Neal Percifield, Mildred Neal Peterson and Velma Neal Davis, nephews Brett Hoyt, Jack Percifield, Donald Underwood and Calvin Davis and niece Marlys Hoyt.
Marj leaves to cherish her memory her son Jonathan &wife Miriam Neal, daughters Joyce Neal, Jean & husband Phil Thomson, Kathryn & husband Rob Rebec, Deb & husband Barry Clifford and son George & wife Bonnie Neal, brothers Merlin Hoyt and James Hoyt, sister-in-law Phyllis Hoyt-Herring, 18 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, Jace, Max, Samuel and Seth; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home - Osceola, Friday May 14, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. with Chaplain Matthew Navotny and Rev. Art Arnett officiating.
The family will greet friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, May 13, 2021 at Kale Funeral Home.
The family and funeral home asks that anyone in attendance at the visitation or funeral service please follow social distancing guidelines. The use of face coverings at either event are REQUIRED. If you are unable to attend the service in person, a live stream will be available at www.kalefuneralhome.com on Marjorie’s tribute wall beginning at 10:30 am, Friday.
Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery
