Joyce Marie “Sue” Taylor, daughter of Roland Eugene Cannon and Virginia Maurine Clark Scholl was born August 4, 1951 in Osceola, Iowa and passed from this life Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 69 years of age.

Joyce received her education at Abraham Lincoln High School in Des Moines, Iowa graduating in 1969.

Sue spent many weekends in Osceola with her grandparents, Les and Corda Clark. She spent a great amount of time working at the Lyric Theatre where she met her future husband, Bob. She was united in marriage to Robert W. Taylor, June 20, 1969 at the First Christian Church in Osceola and three children Rob, Jacki and Jessi blessed this marriage.

Sue worked for the Meredith Corporation for many years and also for a time at Home Depot. She later worked at Wells Fargo for a number of years until her retirement.

One of her greatest joys was being “Momma Sue” to her “adopted” and neighborhood kids. She was heavily involved with the Granny Basketball league in Des Moines where she played and later participated as a referee. Sue was also proud to be a member of the greater Des Moines Community Band, playing the saxophone. Riding her recumbent bike was also a time of relaxation that she really enjoyed. In her later years, she traveled the world with Jessi and friends. Sue adored her dog, Angel.

Those who preceded Sue in death were her grandparents, Leslie Orlando Clark and Corda Lillian Clark; sister, Linda Sue Cannon; parents, Roland Eugene Cannon and Virginia Maurine Clark Scholl and lifelong friend, Jackie Leo Meadows who recently passed.

Sue leaves to cherish her memory, her “Pops”, Clarence Scholl; uncle, Gerald (Lynette) Clark of Osceola, IA; son, Rob (Christi) Taylor of West Des Moines, IA; daughter, Jacki (Ron) Hyde of Des Moines, IA; daughter, Jessi (James) Parker of Des Moines, IA; sister, Allison Kendall of Osceola, IA; step-siblings, Louis Caspers and Kay Joines of Des Moines, IA; former husband, Robert W. Taylor, Sr.; grandchildren, Melani (Aaron) Fulton, Kati Taylor, Nick Hyde, Ben Taylor, Will Taylor, great-grandchildren, Addie and Claire Fulton as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, many friends and an entire league of Granny Basketball players.

Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home, Thursday, May 13, 2021 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Richard Taylor officiating.

Visitation will open after 12 noon Wednesday and the family will greet friends from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2021 at Kale Funeral Home.

The funeral home asks that anyone in attendance at the visitation or funeral service please follow social distancing guidelines. The use of face coverings at either event are REQUIRED. If you are unable to attend the service in person, a live stream will be available at www.kalefuneralhome.com on Sue ‘s tribute wall beginning at 10 a.m., Thursday, May 13.

Interment will be in the Maple Hill Cemetery
