Alice Mae Johnson, daughter of Archie McCafferty and Lee O’Dell McCafferty was born May 6, 1929 in Cromwell, Iowa and passed from this life Thursday, May 20, 2021 at Southern Hills Specialty Care at 92 years of age.
Alice received her early education in Cromwell and graduated from Creston High School in 1947.
She was united in marriage to Charles Duane Johnson on December 26, 1948 at Creston, Iowa and four children, Greg, Gloria, Dana and Kevin blessed this union.
Alice was a wife, mother and business partner working along side her husband, Duane at the stockyards. She was very devoted to her church, serving as a Sunday School Teacher and Bible School Teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society in Osceola and volunteered as a Den Mother in years past.
Alice enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting and had even made a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed her friends and gathering with them for coffee in Murray.

Alice leaves to cherish her memory; son, Greg (Nancy) Johnson of Ankeny, IA, daughter, Gloria (Thomas) Maffett of Lorimor, IA, son, Kevin (Claudia) Johnson of Cazenovia, NY, son-in-law, David Stonehocker of Thayer, IA, granddaughter, Jill Maffett of Des Moines, IA, granddaughter, Tracy (Bryce) Grail of Ames, IA, granddaughter, Lindsay (Jake) Dobberke of Kansas City, MO, grandson, Chad (Becky) Johnson of Portland, OR, granddaughter, Alyssa Johnson of New York, NY, grandson, Kyle Johnson of New York, NY, great-grandchildren, Ella, Harper, Sylvie, Madison, James, Caitlyn, sister-in-law, Veda Johnson of Indianola, IA and her special friend, Kelsey Wells as well as other relatives and many friends.
Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home, Wednesday May 26, 2021 at 11 a.m. with Pastor Marty Burgus officiating.
The family will greet friends from 10-11 a.m. Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Kale Funeral Home.
Social Distancing and face coverings are suggested. For those unable to attend the service in person, a live stream will be available at www.kalefuneralhome.com on Alice’s tribute wall beginning at 11 a.m., Wednesday.
Interment will be in the Murray Cemetery
