Mary Ann Travis Patterson, daughter of Dale Gonseth Travis and Anna Elinor Butt Travis, was born on June 30, 1938, at Peru, Iowa. She passed away on July 18, 2021, at Kingsley Specialty Care, Kingsley, Iowa at the age of 83.
Mary Ann graduated from Winterset High School with the Class of 1956. After her high school graduation she moved to Des Moines. While in Des Moines, she went on a blind date on a Friday, the 13th with Merle Patterson. They were married on November 23, 1958 in Winterset, Iowa, and they farmed northwest of Osceola. They later divorced.
Three daughters blessed this union, Shelly Lynne, Melanie Anne and Stacey Irene. Mary Ann was a stay-at-home mom, very dedicated to the girls and always had a big garden. She was a home-room mother many times, instrumental in starting a 4-H Club in their neighborhood and later served as a leader. She taught Sunday School and was an avid Bridge player belonging to several Bridge Clubs where she has maintained life-long friendships.
After her daughters were grown, Mary Ann moved to Des Moines, and then to Palm Desert, California. While in California she worked for the Palm Springs CVB and made many special friends. Following the death of her father, Mary Ann relocated to Kansas City where she worked for Farmland Foods. Following her retirement from Farmland, she moved to Kingsley, Iowa. During her retirement, she enjoyed several winters in Arizona and liked participating in red hat events and activities in Kingsley. She was a member of the Kingsley United Methodist Church, and was awarded a 50-year membership pin by the Ophir Chapter #267 of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a voracious reader and loved watching professional golf. Mary Ann always enjoyed spending time with and hearing about the activities of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her sister, Patricia Travis Kirk, her parents and nephew Steven Travis Kirk.
Mary Ann is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Shelly & Rick Grandfield of Lorimor, Iowa, Melanie & Keith Bohle of Kingsley, Iowa, and Stacey and Clay Lowe of Winterset, Iowa. In addition, grandchildren and great grandchildren, Jessica and Brandon Reis, daughters, Harper and Campbell, of Lime Springs, Iowa; Christopher and Allison Grandfield, children, Hayden, Adley, Eva and Connor, of Winterset, Iowa; Nicholas and Katie Grandfield, children, Lily and Theo, of Pleasant Hill, Iowa; Sydney Lowe and Aaron Lowe of Winterset, Iowa; great nephews Travis and Klarisa Kirk, daughter Annabell of Elizabethtown, Kentucky; and Dustin and Brooke Kirk, children Tallulah and Gatlin of Corning, Iowa. She is also survived by many cousins and many, many dear friends.
Services will be held at Kale Funeral Home, Saturday July 31, 2021 at 2:30 pm with Pastor Marty Burgus officiating.
The family will greet friends from 1-2:30 p.m. Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Kale Funeral Home.

Interment will be in the Ebenezer Cemetery, rural Madison County with Patty and her parents.
