Mark Edward Addison, son of George Elias Addison and Virginia Aleen (Cox) Addison was born May 26, 1953 in LaMars, Iowa and passed from this life Thursday, August 26, 2021 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center at 68 years of age.
Mark received his education in Ottumwa, Iowa where he graduated from Ottumwa High School. He then attended Indian Hills Community College and attained a degree in Law Enforcement.
He was united in marriage to Diane Rae James on August 22, 1975 at the Presbyterian Church, Chariton, Iowa and two sons, Travis and Troy blessed this union.
Mark began his law enforcement career as a police officer for the City of Chariton. In 1977, Mark had the opportunity to come to Clarke County and become a deputy for Johnny Stearns, who was Sheriff at that time. Johnny retired in 1990 and Mark became the Clarke County Sheriff for two years until he was elected. Mark retire in 2006 after thirty-three years in law enforcement.
Following his retirement, Mark raised and trained various dogs who would be used in the law enforcement field. He also enjoyed his corvettes and car shows and traveling with his wife, Diane. He also enjoyed travels on the Can Am. Daily coffee with the guys was a great enjoyment for Mark as well.
Those relatives who preceded Mark in death were his parents,George Alias and Virginia Aleen Addison; sister, Sandra Spillman; grandparents, Helen Charlette Addison and Edward L Addison.
Mark leaves to cherish his memory; spouse, Diane Rae Addison of Osceola, IA; sons, Travis (Elaine Dana) Addison of Alameda, CA; Troy (Naomi) Addison of Shreveport, LA, grandchildren George Addison, Jack Addison, Jameson Addison and Tatianna Frese; father-in-law, Jackie James of Chariton, mother-in-law, Marilyn James as well as other relatives and many friends.
Cremation was entrusted to Kale Funeral Home. Interment will be in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery
