Ronald Black

Ronald Lynn Black, son of Orval & Ada (Tillotson) Black was born November 13, 1943 in Osceola, Iowa and passed away in Azel, Texas while living in Springtown, Texas on September 18, 2021 at the age of 77.

Ron lived in Des Moines, Iowa for several years where he worked for an Insurance Company before moving to Kansas. He later moved to Texas where he met and married his wife Elaine with whom he shared his life until her passing in February 2021. He moved back to Osceola for 12 years after his first stay in Texas where he worked for Swan’s Home Delivery. He then moved back to Texas where he transferred to Swan’s Depot in Texas. He also worked as a custodian for a school in Texas where he enjoyed the children and staff. Ron also served his country in the Army National Guard. Ron’s life was enriched by his faithful dog and good friend Charlie. They were constant companions including rides in his pickup. He was also a devoted fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Ron leaves to cherish his memory three children Jody, Amy and Chad and grandchildren, plus many friends in Iowa and Texas. He treasured and enjoyed the friendship of his very special neighbors in Texas. He also leaves to remember him many family members including nieces and nephews who loved him dearly. They were blessed to spend a few days in Iowa with him just weeks before his passing.

Those who preceded Ron in death include his wife Elaine, his parents, brothers Gilbert and wife Velma, and Orval Jr; and sisters Gloria and husband Don Stamper and Donna and husband Bud Richey.

Cremation was entrusted to White Funeral Home in Springtown, Texas where a Memorial Service was held for him. A Memorial Service will also be held in Van Wert, Iowa at the Van Wert Assembly of God Church for friends and family on October 30, 2021 from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Rev. Orval “Butch” Black will be the officiating minister. Lunch will then be served at the church. Friends and family are invited for the interment of the cremains at 2:30 p.m. at Maple Hill Cemetery in Osceola, Iowa.
