Leann June Kirkpatrick Duff was born in Davenport IA on May 30th in the year of 1943 to Albert and Arlene Kirkpatrick. She departed this life at her home on November 4, 2021.
She attended school in Clarke and Decatur County. She graduated high school as part of the first class graduating from the combined schools of Grand River and Kellerton in 1961. Shortly after graduation she married Melvin Glen Duff from Van Wert IA on June 3rd, 1961. She spent many years helping on the farm. She was a 4-H leader in Decatur and Clarke County. She became a school bus driver for Murray Community School and drove for many years. She later worked for SCS/ASCS offices assisting farmers with government programs. Leann retired from EMC Insurance after several years.
The union of Leann and Melvin bore 6 children; Frank Albert, Sheryl Arlene, Glee Anne, Jolleen Amy, Glen Arnold, and Kurtis Aaron. Leann became a surrogate parent to many others over the years; Walter, Kris, Donna, and Patrick. She hosted exchange students; Peter from Netherlands, Helle from Denmark, Stefanie from Germany, Keryn from New Zealand, Jussi from Finland, Tonya from Switzerland. She enjoyed learning about the different holiday traditions from each country. She truly loved all the children she considered her own.
Left to morn her passing; children Glee Duff (Council Bluffs), Jolleen Thacker (Murray), Glen Duff and wife Debbie (Gower Mo), Kurtis Duff and wife April (Cheyenne Wy). Grandchildren; Renee Brown & Heather, Austin Brown and Donna, Zachary Thacker, Frank Thacker, Justin Duff and Cinthia, Courtney Olson and Caleb, Brianna Campbell, Austin Crain, Allyson Boyer and Jesse, Rielynn Duff, Kayanna McNeal. Great Grandchildren; Luke Brown, Blake Brown, Brooke Brown, Izel Payan and Anthony Duff, Kaison McNeal, Jaden Barnett, Quinn Crain, and Jocelyn Crain; sisters Kenlyn Kelso, Delane Vanderflught, brothers Loudean Kirkpatrick and Clay Kirkpatrick and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding her in death; Father Albert Rice Kirkpatrick, mother Arlene Moeller Kirkpatrick, brothers Shawn Malvern and Kent Kurtis Kirkpatrick, children Frank Albert and Sherly Arlene, half-brothers Harold, and Clair, half-sisters Lois and Reba, nieces, nephews and grandparents.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Murray Church of Christ Youth Center, Murray, Iowa.
